We just finished Major Minerals today, and on Friday I will go over the Trace Minerals!

Here is an important Update on potassium. I said in class that potassium is extremely important for counter acting sodium.  This is still very true!   But the Potassium DRIs have been recently revised.  See the next two slides.  This is very important for several reasons:

1.  The % DV (Daily Value) for potassium given in the diet analysis program must be way off.  I can tell you that it has not been corrected yet in the diet analysis program.

2. This shows you that the DRIs for a nutrient can be updated as new information becomes available available.

3.  The potassium DRI value is still an AI, and it is not yet a RDA.  What does this mean?
